No cars, no road
noise, no higglers, no tourist throngs, no 'civilization'

Dramatic villa and
location with quite a remarkable staff set upon 2.5
acres of natural fields with Mango, Papaya, Grapefruit
and Sweet Sop trees abound. Sea front pool and patios
with spectacular panoramic views. Wonderful traditional
Jamaican cuisine. It is the ONLY property in all of
Treasure Beach to include a boat and captain with
your villa rental.
Renovated in Fall 2007 LA CASA DUNA is one of the
original villas in Treasure Beach. High on a bluff
at the end of 3/4 mile long Billy's Bay beach. The
area, on the boarder of Fort Charles, was originally
called Black Spring Point. Your viewpoint here stretches
far into the distance, out to the sea and all the
way down the coast to Great Pedro Bluff.
One of the 5 bays and fishing villages
that make up Treasure Beach, Billy's Bay is quiet
& neighborly. Here set unseen on a private lane
off the country road, La Casa Duna is just minutes
from Calabash Bay, its little shops, bakery, bars
and restaurants. Closer to home, a staircase cut into
the bluff leads from the front lawn, porticoed verandah
and pool down to the 3/4 mile beach below and a beautiful
swimming area.
Follow a gentle crescent of sandy shore-line, down
past inshore rockpools & lagoons -- a 15 minute
beach stroll will take you to the Billy's Bay fishers
landing, where you can buy the best of the daily catch
of fresh fish and seafood. Or grab a Red Stripe if
the little bar's open...
Inside the villa, Bev Elliot holds sway. You might
say her warmth and hospitality
is a local family tradition. Bev is the sister of
Len Parchment, manager of LA CASA DUNA, the mother
of Pheona, Duna's housekeeper/cook, and the daughter
of Miss Verlin, a cook legendary in Treasure Beach
for her high standards and caring ways with guests
both young and old.
When not marketing, cooking and making sure your
holiday goes according
to plan, Bev is also a local gospel singer known as
"The Nightingbird of
Billy's Bay" -- with 4 sons who also lead the
reggae group "Four-in-One".
Inside/Out Living though undoubtedly you'll spend
many an hour on the beach, in the pool, lunching on
the terrace or lazing in a hammock on the verandah,
DUNE HOUSE offers great interior spaces for living.
Set apart from the rest of the house, a new greeting
room and foyer features a new TV/DVD and entertainment
center with radio/CD/tape player where kids can play
boardgames and watch movies.
With high, open-beamed ceilings, the separate dining
room and large living room with two conversation areas
open up to seabreezes, ocean and sunset views through
polished wood French doors that lead directly onto
the covered terraces. Given the house location atop
a seafront dune, air-conditioning is
superfluous; ceiling fans, however, are in all rooms
as well as new
louvered and screened windows.
Three airy bedrooms sleep up to 6 guests (both crib
and cot are also available for toddlers & infants).
At oceanfront, the master bedroom with queensize bed
and new en suite bathroom/shower lets one fall asleep
to the sound of waves and seabirds. On the gardenside
of the house, two additional bedrooms (one with queensize
bed, one with two twins) share a new bathroom/shower
at the end of a small hallway. Full modern kitchen.
Solar hot water system. Washing machine. Cell phone
available for free local calls. Caretaker/manager
quarters are set separately and unobtrusively off
the entryway to the house.
Lucky are the one who rent this villa since the boat
and captin are included in your rate, you can -- on
a daily basis -- go fish and dive for lobster, red/yellow/white/
grey snapper, jack, parrot, silk, satin or grouper
for your dinner. Or sportfish for the big ones: crossbar,
tuna, kingfish/mackerel, barracuda dorado and marlin.
In addition to your fishing excursions you can also
-- on a daily basis -- check out Floydie's Pelican
Bar, the wild dunes at Parrottee, Sister Lou's for
blue crab and crocodiles up Black River. Plus, all
the beaches and hidden coves along the coast: Fort
Charles to the new platform Shallow Bar at Great Bay
to Little Ochie restaurant in Alligator Pond -- whatever
you choose.
LEN PARCHMENT, manager of LA CASA DUNA, is your licensed
cap'n, pro diver and guide. Fishing/snorkelling gear
is also included. |
